In 2024, I was commissioned to design, produce, and install a distinctive race MINI livery for Brundle Motorsport, renamed the “Spitfire MINI”. Photographed alongside the iconic Spitfire aircraft, the design drew inspiration from its World War II heritage while maintaining a modern racing aesthetic. The car, carefully rebuilt to racing standards, was first driven by Freddie Hunt Official at its maiden track race in August at Brands Hatch.
The wrap presented a unique challenge: matching the car’s underlying colour to a diffuse camouflage pattern. I meticulously colour-matched the panels before production, ensuring seamless integration with the vehicle’s bodywork. Subtle vector elements were added to introduce a distressed texture, giving the livery the weathered, battle-worn character of a WWII fighter plane while preserving clarity and visual impact on the track.
The resulting livery is understated yet striking, combining historical reference with practical racing design, and reflecting both the client’s vision and Joyce Design UK Ltd.’s high standards of execution.
