Rannoch Adventure has designed and built some of the world’s fastest and most reliable ocean rowing boats, with a 100% safety record and a history of world records across every ocean and race category. I have produced graphics for numerous Rannoch Transatlantic rowing boats, supporting crews attempting to break world records in two- and four-person categories.
The design process shares similarities with motorsport liveries, requiring careful consideration of sponsor positioning and prominence, sometimes even scaling logos according to contribution. While graphics often reflect the sponsor’s identity, I work collaboratively with crews to frame them within a cohesive, visually striking composition.
The marine environment adds unique technical challenges: the constant impact of saltwater means vinyl edges must be sealed with a specialized resin to prevent lifting, which informs both layout and material decisions. Seeing the boats in action is especially rewarding, with several featuring on BBC News and ITV’s Don’t Rock the Boat, demonstrating the visibility and impact of the designs in real-world record-breaking conditions.
