In 2024 I worked with renowned artist duo Rob and Nick Carter, through Joyce Design UK Ltd, on a public art project created for The Big Egg Hunt in London. The Carters are known for exploring the relationship between analogue and digital processes, with works held in major collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Mauritshuis, and Frans Hals Museum.
The commission involved applying visual elements from the artists’ Light Paintings series to a one-metre sculptural egg. Their signature concentric colour forms were separated into individual circular elements and carefully arranged across the curved surface.
My role focused on translating the artists’ visual language into a balanced physical composition. Working over several days, I planned and installed the circles in sections, carefully managing spacing, rhythm, and colour distribution to create a result that felt vibrant and playful while remaining visually controlled. The aim was to celebrate the bold character of the original artwork without overwhelming the form of the sculpture itself.
The finished piece was displayed in Duke of York Square, close to the Saatchi Gallery, as part of the public art trail before being auctioned to raise funds for charity.
